Dear Stakeholder
The big news I alluded to in my last newsletter is out!
SANBI-Kirstenbosch announced on Thursday 21 April 2016 that the theme for its 41st annual entry to the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show this year will be the Harold Porter Botanical Garden, Gateway to the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve.
At the unveiling of the model for the show the following message on behalf of Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve Company Chairman Johan West was delivered by Mr Richard Starke, KBRC director for the marine component and life-long resident of Betty’s Bay where the Harold Porter Botanical Garden is situated. Thank you, Richard!
With 160 000 people expected to visit the Chelsea Flower Show, including the British Queen celebrating her 90th year – and our stand one of the largest at the expo – I think we are going to make a huge impact. Who have ever thought that flower power is something of an era long gone.
Just living is not enough … one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower, Hans Christian Andersen said once and that was not in a fairy tale.
Unbelievable things can happen! Thank you SANBI and good luck!
JOHAN WEST
CHAIRMAN
