Impact of Local Government Elections 2016

OUTREACH

The dust is beginning to settle after the Local Government Elections 2016, which affected us in the sense that some of our directors were involved as candidates and in the aftermath we also participated in the election of ward committee members. Congratulations to directors Fanie Krige, who is now Overstrand Municipality’s councillor for Ward 10 (Rooiels, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay, Overhills and Proteadorp), which is fully encompassed in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, and Fiona Smit, who is serving in the Ward 10 Committee as the KBRC representative. In Ward 9 (Kleinmond and Mountain View) the KBRC is on the replacement list if a vacancy occurs there.

This involvement in municipal affairs is already paying off. We were able to give direct input to the Overstrand Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan for the period 2017 to 2022 and we were also given the opportunity to contribute to the municipality’s Integrated Environmental Management System.
